Animal Farm

I have been reading a novel called Animal Farm. I came across it in the book store, and after reading the first page, I was hooked. I decided to purchased it and continue reading. Wow, it was phenomenal. Every page was worth it. It is about a farm of animals that are being beaten and forced to do labor for long hours by their horrid owner. One day, they decide to take over the farm and overthrow their owner. After that procedure, they also want to run the farm themselves. Not only will they not have to do hard labor, but they do not have to stand the mean owner they had in the first place. This book is actually based on the Cold War, which was the relationship between America and the Soviet Union. It was very interesting to compare and contrast the ideas of the Cold War to the story line in Animal Farm. It was written during 1945 but was not very well known until the 1950's. The author of this book is George Orwell. He has written the books Shooting an Elephant, Homage to Catalonia, Nineteen Eighty-Four, and many more. I hope you are encouraged to read this novel because not only is this book beneficial to your knowledge, but it is worth your time.

  2. Yasmine,
I read this book last summer and it is suuuuper interesting! It is really like human nature for the animals to plan something that is supposedly amazing, but turns out almost worse than before in the same way. I think the pigs in this book are big hypocrites, but the humans seem to think that the animal farm is normal. That is the one thing that seems strange to me. Great post!
