The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants

I have recently started reading The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants. It is about four best friends named Carmen, Bridget, Lena, and Tibby, who try on the same pair of pants, and it fits them all even though they have different body builds. They decide to call it the "magic pants" for this reason. Because of their travels, they will not be seeing each other throughout the summer. As a result, they decide to communicate by using the pants. They will send it to each other throughout the summer, and on one side of they pants, they will write what the most exciting thing was that happened to them, and what the most important thing was that happened while wearing the pants. Here is each of the character's summers so far:

Tibby: Hates working at Wallman's. She knows she has to go through it though to save up for a car. She wishes she were with her friends instead.

Lena: Is at her grandparents house in Greece. During a dinner party, she meets Kostos, who is one of her grandparents neighbors. Lena is in love with him. Her sister Effie, is in love with him as well.

Bridget: Is excited to be at soccer camp in Baja, California! She is also in love, but with the soccer coach.

Carmen: Really dislikes her summer so far. She thought that going to her dad's place would be fun, but then she found out he had a fiancé, she was upset. Carmen wishes her father did not have a girlfriend, and it was just her and him.

This was a very creative idea on the author's part. The author's name is Ann Brashares. She has written the Sisterhood series, My Name is Memory, and many more. If you are in for an exciting book full of fun and wonder, you should definitely read this novel!

The Princess Diaries Series - Book #1

I am currently reading a book called The Princess Diaries. It is part of a series by the same name. It is about a girl in high school named Mia who finds out she is the Princess of Genovia. How could she be a princess? She is an outcast at school, is five foot nine, only has one BFF, flat-chested, is flunking algebra, has no style, and her mom is dating her algebra teacher! So not cool. She is outraged at her parents for not telling her sooner. She is angry at her father the most because she barely sees him, and he never really comes to visit. Now that he is asking her to move to Genovia, it is a total no to her. Mia is reluctant to be a princess though. She is willing to decline her father's offer to become one. My favorite character is Mia because she is very firm about her decisions, and has an intriguing personality. The author of this novel is Meg Cabot. She has written many novels such as, the Allie Finkle Series, Avalon High, the All American Girl series, and Overbite. I love Meg Cabot's books because they are all so well-written, and exciting on every page. There are two movies about this series. After reading the beginning fragment of this novel, this is nothing like the movie. The movie skips some of scenes in the story. The novel however is like a diary, and the movie looks at it in a different aspect. If you are in for a fun, and spunky novel you should definitely read this book!

The Son of Neptune - Characters

I am still reading The Son of Neptune, which is just getting more and more interesting as the story goes on. Because there are many intriguing people in this book, I would like to tell you about a couple of them.

Percy Jackson: Two months ago, he woke up in the Wolf House with no memory. After that, he had a pair of gorgons chasing him, trying to kill him, until he found Roman Camp. He is still learning and making new friends there. Percy thinks he knows Nico d'Angelo, but cannot be quite sure. He is also hearing many campers talk about some sort of problem, but they will not specifically tell him what it is...

Hazel Levesque: Is the Daughter of Pluto, and has one brother named Nico d'Angelo. She is very concerned about her curse. She hopes Percy never finds out about what it is. Her father did tell her though that a Son of Neptune would release her curse. She is wondering if Percy is that person or not. She is also suspicious about his background because the ghosts at the camp are calling him Greek. Hazel is also going through "blackouts" as she calls them. She was born in the 20th century, and died in that time period. She is also alive as the same person in the 21st century. She then feints, and in a way watches some of the moments her past in the 20th century, and wakes up again in the 21st century. She is hoping that these "blackouts" stop soon.

I can not wait to find the adventure that Percy and Hazel embark upon.

The Son of Neptune

I am reading a novel by the name of The Son of Neptune, which is the second book in The Heroes of Olympus Series. When I came across this book, I realized it was by the same author of The Percy Jackson Series (one of my favorites), so I decided to give it a try. I usually choose books by their genre, and author. I love fantasy and action, and this book is 100% that. It is about a boy named Percy Jackson, who is a half blood (which is a child who has one immortal parent, and one mortal parent), and can not remember anything from his past except the name Annabeth. One day, he is being chased by gorgons, when he comes across a Roman camp for half bloods, and everything changes. My favorite character is Percy Jackson because he is a very curious, daring, and adventurous person. Some of his remarks can also be funny. Another one of my favorite characters is Reyna. Although she is very stern, and strict, I predict she will be a favored person in the end. Every chapter in this is book is extremely exciting, and breathtaking. There are no boring bits in this novel (so far). The author of this novel is Rick Riordan. He has written many books including The Kane Chronicles, and The Percy Jackson Series. Only first book in the Percy Jackson Series has been made into a movie. I am eager to see if more movies are created for the rest of the series. The next book he writes, I will be the first one to buy, because his books are so amazing. Hopefully, after you read this book, you will think so too.

The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate

I am in the middle of reading a novel called The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate. The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate is about an eleven year old named Calpurnia who is growing up 1899 Texas. She likes to explore, and observe the wonders of nature around her. Calpurnia develops a strong bond with her grandfather who shared the same passion. Her grandfather was a great teacher, and taught Calpurnia how to look at nature under the lenses of a microscope. He also taught her some science. While she is dealing with her 6 brothers and strict mother, she takes you on a journey full of fun, and mischievous surprises. This book is also very descriptive. My favorite character is Calpurnia because of her wit, and take on situations. Calpurnia always stands up for what she thinks. She is a friendly, kind, and generous person. I also like J.B., Calpurnia's youngest, and baby brother because he always makes funny remarks about objects or situations. He is also loving, delightful, and darling. Whenever the narrator talks about him, I know that there will be a cute factor in it. When I turned the first page of the book, I was captured by the flow of descriptive language. The journey through this book kept me mesmerized, and interested. It also won a 2010 Newbury Award. The author's name is Jacqueline Kelly. This was my first time reading one of her books. Treat yourself to reading this novel, and be ready to be entertained.

So many books, so little time.

I am currently reading two books, one of which is called Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment. I have already read this book before, but it is always good to reread a book to see if you have missed any points. I found this book on the 7th and 8th grade reading list this summer. It is about a group of kids that have wings, and a bunch of scientists are trying to find them. The scientists end up taking the youngest girl, Angel, and the rest of the kids has to rescue her. My favorite character has to be Max, the oldest because she is very daring, and brave. I also like Angel, the youngest because she is cute, and adorable. This book keeps me interested because on every page, there is always a rush of constant excitement. I could read this book over, and over again, and not get bored. There are usually no boring bits. I think that any lover of action, and fiction would fall in love with this novel. This is the first book I have read by the author, James Patterson. He wrote many other books as well, such as Middle School, the Worst Years of my life, Kill Me if you can, and The Daniel X series. Maximum Ride is actually a series too. There is also a movie coming out in 2013 about it. I am excited to compare the movie with the novel when it comes out. I hope to read all of the books in the Maximum Ride series. Hopefully, you will too.
