Lord of the Flies
I have recently been reading Lord of the Flies. I picked it out on a trip to Barnes and Nobel. The summary on the back really caught my eye, and the cover looked mysterious and dark. I always am in for a mystery novel. Lord of the Flies takes place in the 20th century and is about a group of boys who are on a plane to boarding school when they crash on an unknown island. Their pilot is dead, they have no cell phone, and they do not know whether someone will rescue them from this island. In the meantime, they create a society, and develop ideas on how they could attract boats over to the island to rescue them. A few days after they arrive, they notice a boy has gone missing, and that the youngest children are talking about a beast they have seen shadows or parts of. Of course, no one really believes them, but after more and more people have started to see the beast, the leaders of the society start to investigate around the island as to where the monster might be. At the same time, people in the society started to get a little suspicious, and the leaders feel like they might have something to do with the beast. I think it is real because if more than one person has seen it, it has to be. The author's name is William Golding. He has written many books including, THE PAPER MEN, AN EGYPTIAN JOURNAL, and many more. I hope you read the book!
