Animal Farm
I have been reading a novel called Animal Farm. I came across it in the book store, and after reading the first page, I was hooked. I decided to purchased it and continue reading. Wow, it was phenomenal. Every page was worth it. It is about a farm of animals that are being beaten and forced to do labor for long hours by their horrid owner. One day, they decide to take over the farm and overthrow their owner. After that procedure, they also want to run the farm themselves. Not only will they not have to do hard labor, but they do not have to stand the mean owner they had in the first place. This book is actually based on the Cold War, which was the relationship between America and the Soviet Union. It was very interesting to compare and contrast the ideas of the Cold War to the story line in Animal Farm. It was written during 1945 but was not very well known until the 1950's. The author of this book is George Orwell. He has written the books Shooting an Elephant, Homage to Catalonia, Nineteen Eighty-Four, and many more. I hope you are encouraged to read this novel because not only is this book beneficial to your knowledge, but it is worth your time.

The Hunger Games
I just started reading the Hunger Games. It is part of a series called The Hunger Games Trilogy. My sister began to read it and highly recommended it and based on the mini booklet project we did in the beginning of the year, I thought it seemed like the type of book that suited me to my liking. I began to read this book, and based on what I have read so far, it is one of the most fascinating books I have read all year. It is about a game that takes place every year where one girl and one boy are chosen from each district to compete in the Hunger Games. Those two children are to represent the district and compete with the others. They play until they have only one person standing. Katniss is an ordinary girl along with her best friend Gale, and they do everything together. She is also devoted and cares very much for her sister. When she finds out that out of all the children in her district, her sister was chosen, she goes as tribute so her sister doesn't get hurt. I can not wait to continue reading, and find out who the male representative is. The author of the well written novel is Suzanne Collins. She has written a myriad of books including Mockingjay, Catching Fire, and Gregor the Overlander. This book is for people that enjoy the genres of mystery and adventure.
